Specialty MGA UK, the managing general agent that specialises in providing additional capacity for specialty lines of business, has added to its construction team with the appointment of Sam Hui as Senior Underwriter for Onshore Construction and Energy.

Hui is a renowned insurance and reinsurance professional with over 30 years’ experience of construction and energy underwriting, having begun his career in marine insurance.

Hui is well known in the international market and previously worked at Advent Syndicate 780 where he had a successful track record of supporting clients across the world, bringing with him a global network of brokers, insurers and agents.

Commenting on the new appointment, Group Chairman, Manoj Kumar said:

Sam brings extensive experience of these international markets as well as deep technical expertise, greatly benefiting our MGA as we continue our expansion and growth in this important line of business.”

In his new role, Hui will have oversight of onshore construction including single projects and annual facilities for Owners, Project Sponsors and Contractors, as well as covering Machinery Breakdown and Mining Plant and Equipment.

In addition, Hui will write the Upstream Energy account, further growing Specialty’s energy book as the MGA continues to drive new business and open up additional capacity for clients.
